History
In the 37th year of the rule of Emperor Malkavian **Change this!** the first colony was established in the Crimson Sea. Over the next two decades many settlers moved to the Crimson Sea seeking their fortune in a new land rich with exotic goods. This ended when, on the eve of his 60th year of rule, Emperor Malkavian was assassinated. While the succession was clear, the Luarian Church declared that Malkavian had extended his life using the foulest of wizardries and that his entire bloodline was tainted. Thus began the twelve year war of the Pretenders. During this time all support for the new found Crimson Colonies was abandoned, leading Baron Something to declare independence and name himself King of the Crimson Sea.
The first act of the new Emporer, Jeoffrey, who won by gaining allies both in the church and the loyalists, was to declare war on King Something and to attempt to reclaim the Crimson Sea. The already war torn empire turned its battered fleet on the isles, hoping for a quick victory against this new nation that had no navy a mere decade ago. This was not to be. Something was able to recruit many pirate captains with promises of titles and land, and was able to fend off the attack. However Jeoffrey was not one to give up easily and returned the next year with a larger army. This time the war lasted four years, ending only two years ago when Jeoffrey was forced to turn his military to put down a rebellion within his lands, lead by those who were not pleased with the inability of their new emperor. In the time since then there have been six significant skirmishes between the Empire and the Kingdom, three minor rebellions and at least a dozen attempts on Jeoffery's life.
